The Dance Institute, Tauranga offer Ballet classes for children from the age of 5 years and Modern dance / Jazz for children 7 years and over.

Principal Shireen Breebaart (ARAD) teaches every class herself and takes pride in the continued high standard of her pupils and the 100% pass rate in all exams since the Dance Institute opened. She is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and teaches all RAD ballet grades from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2.

Modern dance is an enjoyable syllabus which builds strength and flexibility and incorporates both jazz and contemporary dance styles.

Examinations are offered in both disciplines and although they are not compulsory they simply set goals for children to work towards as well as offer a challenge and sense of achievement. For the parents exams give an indication of their child's progress.

The highlight of every year is the annual production, which all pupils are offered the opportunity to perform in, thus also gaining the experience and enjoyment out of dancing in front of an audience.

The Dance Institute opened in 2001 in a modern, purpose built studio at 52 Welcome Bay Road, Tauranga.
